A Letter from Dr. Eddie Estep, District Superintendent, Kansas City District
Dear College Church:
Advent greetings on behalf of the Kansas City District.
It is my privilege to work with your church board in the calling of a new lead pastor at College Church. We have now met four times, and my admiration and appreciation for your lay leaders has grown each meeting. One of our first tasks was to select an interim pastor to lead the church through the days of transition. We were glad when Dr. Stan Reeder agreed to serve in that capacity. However, on Saturday, December 12, Dr. Reeder notified us of his need to withdraw as interim pastor due to unanticipated providence.
The last few days have been spent prayerfully considering various options, and we hope to announce the interim pastor soon. As of now, our timeline remains unchanged, and we plan to have the interim pastor in place at the beginning of the New Year.
We are grateful for the faithful service of Pastor David Sharpes over these last six years. This Sunday, December 20, College Church will be saying “Thank You” to Dave, Carol, and Hannah, and blessing them as they transition to a new season of ministry and service.
I will have the privilege of being with you in worship on Sunday, December 27. I look forward to sharing a message titled, “When God Asks You to Do a Difficult Thing,” from Matthew 1:18-25.
That service will also provide opportunity to give you an update on the pastoral search process and the interim pastor plans.
God is with us. May the peace, joy, and hope of Christmas be yours.
Warmly Yours in Christ,
Kansas City District, Church of the Nazarene
