When it comes to recovery work however, we take
great pains here at College Church to insure people
are safe at our weekly meetings. In order to keep
it a “safe place”, we go over our “rules”
each
and every
week. Rules
such as:
¨
Five minute time limit
|
¨Anonymity |
| ¨
Confidentiality |
¨
No Fixing |
| ¨
No cross talking |
|
People
are often surprised when we mention the “no
fixing” rule! Sometimes they respond by saying,
“if ‘no fixing’ is allowed, then
how am
I supposed to get well”? By asking the question,
they reveal they do not understand
the process a person must go through in order for
healing to take place. Don’t
get me wrong here, I firmly believe God brings about
healing in our lives as He works through
each of us. However, I believe the Holy Spirit has
graciously placed resources in every Christian that,
when released from one person and received into
another, can promote substantial healing and change
Here at College Church in our Growth & Support
Groups, we sit in “safe circles”, facing
each other and somehow finding the courage to tell
our stories. And, as we travel as companions together,
we discover that God works through “one another”
to bring healing in our lives. Perhaps you too will
find it a “safe place” where you can
tell your story. |
